Hiring an Employee at a Fast-Paced Restaurant Is Still Better Than Hiring Someone Else
Hiring an Employee at a Fast-Paced Restaurant Is Still Better Than Hiring Someone ElseIf you are a small business owner looking to hire the right employee, choosing to apply for a job at a fast-paced restaurant versus one of a slower service establishments can seem a tough decision. There are several reasons that you should not make the same mistake again. Regardless of whether you are trying to hire someone who will fill a formal position or someone who will work in a fast-paced restaurant, choosing between the two is ultimately dependent on several factors. One of the first things to consider is what type of food you are serving - fast food or fine dining restaurants. The longer the establishment takes to get their food into your customers' hands and on their tables, the more likely they are to end up moving on to another fast-paced eatery or location. On the other hand, if you are serving fine dining, the faster-paced service restaurant is much more likely to replace you quickly. Th at means more than just cleaning up and moving on to the next job, they will be able to replace you within a matter of days if not hours, in some cases. So if you are interested in filling a position at a fast-paced restaurant, remember that you must have enough working capital to be able to move on without hesitation. For those who have been running a small service restaurant for quite some time, hiring someone with more than one year's experience is the way to go. Fast-paced establishments tend to hire people with few years' experience as part of their recruitment processes. Then again, if you are an entrepreneur who is trying to expand your services restaurant, hiring experienced workers is a lot better than trying to do it yourself. Again, the service restaurant is always going to be far more busy than the fast-paced restaurant, because people coming in frequently. If you try to do it all by yourself, you could find yourself missing some high profile clients. In addition to the abo ve, keeping up with a rapidly changing industry is also one of the most important considerations when looking for a business development or sales representative. If you are an established restaurant owner, it might be a good idea to diversify and employ new people instead of sticking with just one group of people. This means expanding to the fast-paced restaurant as well.Just keep in mind that hiring a fast-paced restaurants person is just as important as hiring someone who works in a traditional location. If you are using a resume writing service, make sure they understand this.

The Seven Layers Of Your Personal Network - Work It Daily
The Seven Layers Of Your Personal Network - Work It Daily NOTE: This is a book excerpt with minor edits from You Know Everybody! A Career Girlâs Guide to Building a Network That Works by Marcy Twete. When it comes to your network, you have to strike a cool balance. To ensure youâre building the right kind of network, it is important to note that adding people to your network for reasons both substantive and shallow is not only acceptable, itâs encouraged. Why? Because your network, when strategically built, should also be well balanced. Iâve created the âSeven Layers of Your Personal Networkâ to help you evaluate your current network and determine where you might need to add a few people here and there. 1. The âMove A Bodyâ Friend Brene Brown once said we should all have at least one friend who would, without hesitation, âhelp you move a body.â Now, letâs hope you never call anyone looking for a shovel. But if you did, ask yourself this: Who would you call? We sometimes forget to include these people in our network because their connection with is intensely personal and not professional. Big mistake! 2. Cheerleaders And Shoulders To Cry On Hopefully, youâve collected quite a few people who rest in this second layer of your personal network. Theyâre the kind of friends youâd call if you went through a break-up, needed help moving across town, or wanted someone to look over a cover letter before you apply for a job. Theyâre the first people youâd call when you need a boost or had a bad day, and the easiest people in your life to show your true feelings to. 3. Cheers To You! This layer consists of people youâd invite to your birthday party at the hot new restaurant, the people youâd call when youâre in the mood for a Wednesday night happy hour, and generally fall more into the âfriendâ category than the âbusiness connectionâ category. Theyâre an important part of your network because their relationship with you is largely personal, but theyâre usually willing to act as a reference, connect you to someone they know at a company you might be interested in, and if theyâre a social butterfly, even better! 4. Coffee Mates And Lunch Dates When youâre thinking about the kinds of people who reside in this layer, youâll think about former co-workers you continue to keep in touch with, individuals you may have met at a professional luncheon or event, potential employers youâre networking with intentionally, and others youâd consider close to you, but in a professional capacity only. 5. Conjunction Connections Any child of the 1970s or 1980s will remember School House Rock. One of its most famous ditties went like this, âConjunction junction, whatâs your function? Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.â Itâs exactly that reason that the fifth layer of your personal network is labeled âConjunction Connections.â The people in this layer arenât âhooking up words and phrases and clausesâ but they are hooking up people and information and opportunities. They donât know everybody, but the people they do know, theyâre always linking to one another. 6. Stand Still, Look Pretty We donât always want to admit it, but we all have these people in our networks. Theyâre, for lack of a better word, decorative. Youâve done work with them, and they tend to have a good name in their field, but you know and so does everyone else that theyâre all talk, little substance. Why is this person valuable to your network? Because she knows everybody! Usually, these âStand Still, Look Prettyâ types are also pretty big gossips, and you donât want to be on her bad side. 7. Whatâs Your Name Again? The seventh layer of your personal network is clear. You met someone, you took their business card, and maybe you even added them as a LinkedIn connection or followed them on Twitter. But the truth is, you would struggle to remember their name or their face if casually asked. If you wanted to get in touch with one of these connections, youâd begin your email by reminding her where you met or a little about yourself because you know that, for her, youâre likely a seventh layer connection as well. Youâve hopefully taken the time to both think through and list out a number of your connections in each of the seven layers of your personal network. Which layers are you heavy in and which have fewer connections? None of these results is good or bad. It simply helps you to see the current diversity of your network specifically related to their proximity to you and your ability to immediately connect with them on certain issues and needs. Watch This FREE Webinar! When we think about networking, we often think about mixers, events, conferences, and coffee meetings. While in-person networking is key to your success, you can also build meaningful relationships to enhance your professional networks by using various social media channels. In this session, Marcy Twete, founder of the Career Girl Network and author of You Know Everybody! A Career Girlâs Guide to Building a Network That Works, will lead you through the process of developing your professional brand online and using it to build the network of your dreams. How you can improve your emotional well being with this one activity
How you can improve your emotional well being with this one activityHow you can improve your emotional well being with this one activityBad movies have robbed nature of some of its most impressive phenomenons, but I think sunsets might have gotten the worst of it. In film, theyre usually meant to kickstart one of two moments a moment of mindfulness where the protagonist arrives at a crucial instance of clarity, or the moment when two starry-eyed lovers finally figure out how copulation works. Its redundant, cheesy and potentially completely accurate.Several studies have recently come out championing the correlation between observing natural beauty and longevity. Additionally,a stu dy conducted by the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada disclosed increased instances of weight gain during the winter months, in parte due to the absence of light. Of course, there are plenty of adverse effects associated with overexposure, but the proposed physical profits of sun rays arent as frequently discussed.Sunlight leads to surges of the mood-boosting hormone known as serotonin. When levels of serotonin become too low, you have a much higher risk of developing seasonal affective disordera condition more than 20% of Americans suffer from each year.Light therapy is being considered more and more as a method of better managing conditions like insomnia, seasonal depression and even major non-seasonal depression. There is also a freshet of somatic benefits to penciling in a morning or two to take in a sunset. A 2008 study furthered research intended to confirm the major role sun rays play in bone health. Exposure to the ultraviolet-B radiation produced by the sun causes th e skin to create Vitamin D.Unlike other essential vitamins, which must be obtained from food, vitamin D can be synthesized in the skin through a photosynthetic reaction triggered by exposure to UVB radiation. The efficiency of production depends on the number of UVB photons that penetrate the skin, a process that can be curtailed by clothing, excess body fat, sunscreen, and the skin pigment melanin, says the studys lead authorM. Nathaniel Mead.According toFelice Gersh, MD watching sunsets can reduce the stress hormone called cortisol. Moreover, it causes surges in melatonin production, a hormone that decreases oxidative stress and inflammation.More than the studied biological effects, setting aside time to appreciate beautiful natural occurrences promotes other healthy activates, like mindfulness and patience.
